February is widely regarded as the month of love. It is a good time to reflect on your relationship with your partner and deepen your bond. How can you do that? One thing you can do is ask yourself (and your partner) some meaningful questions that explore how you feel about the world and about each other! If you are not sure what to ask, here are some questions to help you start making your list:
Fun Questions
Fun questions might seem a bit trivial, but the truth is that your partner’s likes and preferences make up a huge part of who they are. They also make a great way to spark lighthearted conversation. Some fun questions that you might ask your partner include:
- What is your dream job?
- What was your favorite TV show as a kid? How about now?
- What is the best trip you have ever been on?
- What is your dream vacation?
- If you could time travel, what moments would you want to revisit?
- What is your favorite song and why?
- If you were stranded on a desert island, what three items would you want to have with you?
Deep Questions
Some deep questions can stir up strong emotions, and that is okay! Just be sensitive to your partner’s reaction and respect their boundaries if there are things they are not ready to talk about. Here are a few deep questions that can be used to get to know each other on a more intimate level:
- What do you consider to be your purpose in life?
- What is your biggest fear?
- What is your greatest hope?
- What inspires you?
- Have you ever had a near-death experience?
- What do you value most in relationships?
- What is your deepest regret?
- Why did your last relationship end?
- What is your most embarrassing memory?
Questions about You
Getting your partner’s perspective on you might be a bit uncomfortable, but it can also open the door to create a stronger bond between the two of you. Be sure to keep an open mindset and use good judgement when choosing what to ask. Here are a few questions that might stir up a meaningful discussion:
- What do you see as my best qualities?
- What do you see as my greatest shortcomings?
- What specific things can I do to make you feel loved and respected?
- What do you envision when you think about a future with me?
- How can we work together to make our relationship a long-term success?
Whether you are in a new relationship or have been together for years, asking questions is a great way to strengthen your bond with your partner!
