Mental Health Services – Westfield, NJ
Effective Treatment Options
Founded by Dr. Leopold Bolona, Embrace Psychiatric Wellness Center prides itself on providing comprehensive and compassionate mental health services in Westfield, NJ. Our experienced professionals treat adults in a peaceful and inclusive environment.
We understand that seeking treatment can be difficult. Our aim is to make the process as comfortable as possible and to spend time getting to know you and your unique situation. The initial appointment is a comprehensive psychiatric interview and the first step in the treatment process. Your provider will gain a full social, emotional, educational, medical, and family history, in order to formulate a diagnosis and treatment plan before engaging in continued mental health services.
When appropriate, your clinician will consult with your other medical providers, family members, and school personnel to be as comprehensive as possible when providing mental health services.
Psychiatric
Evaluation
The initial appointment is a comprehensive psychiatric interview and the first step in the treatment process. Your provider will gain a full social, emotional, educational, medical and family history, in order to formulate a diagnosis and treatment plan.
When appropriate, your clinician will consult with your other medial providers, family members and school personnel to be as comprehensive as possible.
Medication
Management
Medication is often a necessary part of the treatment plan, and will sometimes be recommended in conjunction with other therapies. Your provider will work with you to determine the best options for you, and discuss risks and benefits of medications. When taking medication for mental health issues, it is important to be followed regularly by a psychopharmacologist. Often medications need to be adjusted in order to find the best regime.
Medicine
Consultation
Often patients are prescribed psychiatric medications by their general practitioners, or other healthcare providers. While medical doctors are trained to recognize mental illness, they do not have updated specialized education and expertise as do psychiatrists, to most correctly diagnose and treat mental illnesses.
Our clinicans have extensive training in psychopharmacology and are up to date with the newest and most innovative treatments available.
SPRAVATO
SPRAVATO nasal spray is a different kind of medication taken with an oral antidepressant for adults with Treatment-Resistant Depression – a first in decades approved by the FDA.
If you’ve struggled with depression and tried two or more antidepressants in your current episode without adequate relief, talk to us to see if you have Treatment-Resistant Depression. *Of adequate dose and duration.
TMS Therapy
TMS is a depression treatment that is non-invasive and doesn’t involve the use of any drugs. In TMS therapy, the prefrontal cortex of your brain is stimulated with a magnetic field. This helps brain cells function and regulate your mood more effectively. It gently stimulates the areas of the brain that are under-active with depression.
Psychotherapy
and Referrals
In addition to our Staff Licensed Professional Counselor, Westfield Psychiatric Wellness has teamed up with a group of independent providers to create Better Everything, a Specialized Therapeutic Center. This allows us to easily refer patients to Psychologists, Clinical Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Marriage and Family Therapists, Learning Specialists, and various other clinicians for a variety of treatment needs.
Professional
Speaking
Dr. Leopold Bolona is an active member of the American Medical Association, American Psychiatric Association, and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and has received several awards such as America’s Top Psychiatrist and NJ Family Magazine’s Top Child Psychiatrist.
He is an internationally recognized expert in the field of Psychiatry and is contracted for various speaking engagements and lectures medical residents on various topics related to the field.
GeneSight
Testing
The GeneSight Psychotropic test is a generic test that shows how a patient’s genes may affect medication outcomes. It can reveal which medications require dose adjustments, be less likely to work, or have an increased risk of side effects based on a patient’s DNA. We offer GeneSight sample collection at our 354 South Ave location and can make the arrangements at our other locations to ship a sample collection kit to the patient so they may ship it to a GeneSight lab themselves.
